The Green-bottle, Lucilia sericata, was introduced to Australia from Europe, and although it is virtually identical to Lucilia cuprina it only rarely attacks live sheep. It is also more coastal in its distribution, occurring in moister climates. Like L. cuprina, it is one of the first visitors to a corpse, and the larval stages are smooth.
