Remembering the Dead
National centre for Childhood Grief
by Mal McKissock OAM, NSW
Bereavement Counsellor, Aged 50 something
At 'A Friend's Place' we support bereaved children aged between 3 - 18. One of the things we do is 'make' memories, we beleive that people die but your relationship with them lives forever. Some of the ways we do this is by making quilts using the children's artwork, making 'Memory Boxes' in which they store memorabilia, stories and other intimate things which belonged to or remind them of the person who died (most often a parent)
We will be visiting the exhibition tommorrow (Wed 28/5) with Dr Robert Bendiksen Secretary of The International Work Group on Death, Dying and Bereavement, who arrives from the USA that morning.
